Mr Hyde re-visioned.

I’m starting the year with a bit of old seasoned with a tad of new.
There’s a funny story behind this character design. Back in 2002 I was totally focused on breaking into comics. I penciled some pages but just before I could send them I read an downloaded a sample script form MARVEL written so all aspiring pencilers could show how they would go about a regular Marvel script.
In that story, an obsessed Mr. Hyde would break into a posh party to try and kidnap Mary Jane Watson-Parker but not without having a showdown with Spider-man himself.
Once I read the 8 page script I started drawing the main characters in different poses and gestures to get the feel of them. I was so exited! Then I realized that I was not very familiar with Marvel’s Mr. Hyde other than a very old Daredevil comic I read as a child. Time to re-vision the villain.
I thought that Mr. Hyde should be a cunning brute. Had to be in order to have goons and to be obsessed with a beautiful redhead. He would try to have a Victorian gentleman’s look while being totally repulsive at the same time. I think I nailed by the second try.
Never did I send the penciled pages but today I found the character sketches and decided to throw some shades on it and share it with you all.
